A Clear Diagnosis, the Same Day

Diagnosis starts with an ultrasound and quantitative hCG bloodwork in our West Village office. When the picture is uncertain, we repeat the hCG about 48 hours later and read the trend with you, so the answer is based on data rather than guesswork. Everything is explained in plain language, with time for every question. And if you are bleeding and your blood type is Rh negative, we provide RhoGAM at the same visit.

Every Option, Explained Honestly

There is rarely one right answer, and the choice is yours. Expectant management lets your body complete the process naturally, with our monitoring and support. Medication management uses prescriptions we provide in office to bring the process to completion on your timeline, in your own home. And if a surgical procedure is the right path, we refer you to our trusted partners, some of the finest OB/GYN surgeons in New York, and we stay closely involved before and after.

Follow Up That Closes the Loop

We confirm your hCG returns to zero, which rules out retained tissue and ectopic pregnancy. We check in on you, not just your labs. And when you are ready, whether that is soon or someday, we help you plan what comes next, including a full preconception workup if you want one.

Miscarriage Care FAQs

How is a miscarriage diagnosed?

With an ultrasound and quantitative hCG bloodwork, sometimes repeated about 48 hours apart to read the trend. Diagnostic criteria are deliberately conservative, so when the picture is uncertain we say so, explain what we are watching for, and never rush a conclusion.

Do I need a D&C?

Usually not. Many miscarriages complete naturally with monitoring, and medication management is an effective option we prescribe in office. When a surgical procedure is the right choice, we refer you to our trusted OB/GYN surgical partners and stay involved before and after.

What does recovery look like?

Bleeding typically tapers over one to two weeks and your cycle usually returns within four to six weeks. We confirm your hCG returns to zero, which rules out retained tissue and ectopic pregnancy, and we stay available for anything that does not feel right.

When can we try to conceive again?

For most women there is no medical reason to wait long. Ovulation can return within weeks, and a single early loss does not predict future losses. If you have had two or more losses, we recommend a full workup of treatable causes before trying again.

What if I am bleeding heavily right now?

If you are soaking through a pad an hour, feeling faint, or having severe pain, go to the nearest emergency room. For anything less acute, call or text us at (917) 938-7745 and we will see you the same day. If you are Rh negative, we provide RhoGAM at your visit.
