IV Hydration for Pregnancy Nausea

Morning sickness? Try all-day sickness. For many people, early pregnancy comes with constant nausea, vomiting, and dehydration. If sipping fluids isn’t cutting it—or even staying down—IV hydration therapy may be a game changer.

At Materna, we offer IV hydration in a calm, outpatient setting, designed specifically for pregnancy. Here's what you need to know.

Why Dehydration Happens So Easily in Early Pregnancy

Between the hormonal surges, increased metabolic demands, and morning sickness that often peaks between weeks 6–10, it’s no surprise that dehydration is one of the most common reasons pregnant women end up in the ER.

But here’s the problem: the ER isn’t built for pregnancy-specific care. Long wait times and minimal follow-up aren’t ideal when you’re vomiting every hour or unable to eat.

That’s where we come in.

What IV Hydration Can Do for You

1. Rapid Rehydration

IV fluids go directly into your bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system. That’s especially helpful when you’re vomiting or can’t keep liquids down.

2. Replenish Key Nutrients

At Materna, our IV fluids often include electrolytes, vitamins (like B6), and minerals tailored to your lab work and symptoms.

3. Ease Nausea and Fatigue

Many patients feel almost immediate relief—less dizziness, fewer headaches, more energy, and reduced nausea.

4. Avoid the ER

By treating symptoms early, we help you avoid unnecessary hospital visits and keep you feeling more like yourself—at home, at work, or with your family.

What to Expect at Your IV Hydration Appointment

At your first visit, we’ll:
- Review your symptoms and medical history
- Perform a blood draw and urine analysis to check hydration levels and electrolytes
- Create a tailored IV plan, including fluids, vitamins, and anti-nausea meds if needed
- Monitor your response and adjust future treatments as necessary

You’ll rest in a private space with comfy seating. Most visits take 45 –60 minutes, and you’ll be able to text our team for follow-up care afterward.

Is IV Therapy Safe in Pregnancy?

Yes. At Materna, all IV therapies are guided by ACOG (American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists) recommendations and tailored to your unique health profile. We only use pregnancy-safe medications and doses.

IV Hydration Is More Than a Trend—It’s Real Relief

There’s nothing glamorous about constant vomiting or barely getting through the day. If you're struggling, know this: IV hydration isn't “extra.” It's necessary, safe, and effective—and it can change the course of your first trimester.
